The new generation of McMurdo Series 8 EPIRBs are compatible with the MEOSAR satellite system. Equipment with automatic activation approved by the DGMM as minimum equipment for zones 1 and 2 (SOLAS). It has automatic water activation. The 406 MHz frequency alerts SAR services through COSPAS-SARSAT. The 121.5 MHz frequency allows location by rescue units already in rescue. The G8 provides location accturacy thanks to GNSS coordinates from a wider range of satellite constellations, up to 71 channels with GPS, GLONASS and Galileo multi-constellations.

The radio beacons need to be programmed and installed by an authorized installer.
